A Prayer for the Still Centre

Source of Life, Mystery at the heart of all things,

teach us not to seek our own glory,

nor to be ruled by the small self

with all its fears, vanities, and restless hungers.

May the noise of the world,

and the clamour of the ego,

not come between us and the deeper truth

that waits quietly within.

With the simplicity of the awakened heart,

may we learn to listen:

not only to words spoken aloud,

but to the still, small voice

that rises from the depths of the soul.

Give us a single eye,

not narrowed by certainty,

but made clear by humility;

a pure heart,

not untouched by struggle,

but made honest through self-knowledge.

In the stillness and quietude of our souls,

may we find communion

with the Eternal Presence,

with one another,

and with the hidden wholeness

towards which all life is moving.

And as the way becomes clearer,

may we speak and act

not from fear, pride, or possession,

but from the deeper wisdom

that leads us beyond ourselves.

So may we follow the Beloved,

the image of compassion, truth, and freedom,

into the kingdom already stirring among us:

a kingdom of justice, mercy, reconciliation,

and the healing of the divided soul.

Amen.
