A March Blessing
May this month of March awaken your spirit,
Stirring you gently from winter’s hush,Calling you to rise once more,
To feel the warmth of sunlight on your face,
And hear the song of life returning to the earth.
They say we must not rest on our laurels,
That we must keep striving,
Keep pushing forward,
Lest we lose our edge.
But what edge, and what laurels?
Are our achievements not but footprints in the sand,
Soon to be softened by the tide,
Re-shaped, re-formed, reborn?
Let us not fear rest, nor the passing of seasons.
Let us honour what has been,
And trust that what is too come will bloom in its own time.
For even the laurel…. symbol of glory…. is evergreen,
Rooted in stillness as well as growth.
So may you walk gently into this new season,
With courage, with grace,
And with the quiet knowing
That you are enough,
Even as you grow.
