A Prayer of Searching and Finding

O Holy Mystery,

We search and we strive,

We reach for distant shores,

For meaning, for love, for a place to rest our weary souls.

We chase after dreams and desires,

Hoping that this time, this path, this answer

Will finally bring the peace we crave.

Yet, all along,

While we run and wrestle with longing,

You are already here.

Not beyond the next horizon,

Not in the grasp of another achievement,

But within us... deep, quiet, steadfast.

We are restless, O God,

Always longing for something more,

But have we been looking in all the wrong places?

Have we forgotten the voice that calls us...

The voice that whispers: You are already home.

You have called us by name

Before we ever took a step on this earth.

You have carved us into the palms of Your hands,

And yet we keep searching,

As if we are lost,

As if we are not already found.

Still, You do not tire of us.

You wait in the silence,

You hold us even as we run,

You whisper when we are too weary to listen:

You are my Beloved. You belong to me.

O Loving Presence,

Let us surrender the search

Not because there is nothing to seek,

But because all we truly long for

Has never been absent.

May we rest in the truth

That we are Yours.

That we are held.

That we are home.

Amen.
